Value hierarchy

The order in which an organisation's values are actually prioritised when two of them cannot both be honoured.

Shadow value

An unwritten rule that actually governs decisions in an organisation without appearing in its official value set.

Espoused value

A value an organisation officially professes, whether or not it can be found in its decisions.

Enacted value

A value that actually governs action and can therefore be read from the choices an organisation makes.

Credibility gap

The distance between the value hierarchy leadership expects and the one employees describe.

Breaking point

The level of pressure at which an organisation's value hierarchy flips, so a different value starts to win.

Value collision

A situation where two of an organisation's own values cannot both be honoured, so one must give way.

Anonymity threshold

The minimum number of responses required before a result may be shown for a unit. In KulturEKG the threshold is five and cannot be switched off.

Single-use access

A link or code usable only once, marked as used without storing which answer it produced.

Strength ratio

The share of choices in which one value wins over another within a specific value pair.

Circular triad

A pattern where A beats B, B beats C and C beats A — that is, a hierarchy that is not consistent.
